Bringing Our Community Together

Community engagement events at Woodlands

There’s something lovely about being part of a community, and here at Woodlands, we're always finding new ways to connect with the people around us. Over the past few weeks, our home has been filled to the brim as we’ve welcomed friends old and new.

Our residents recently had a wonderful idea—to say thank you to the amazing people who keep our community safe and well. With the help of our lovely Chef Krystine, they baked a batch of delicious cupcakes and hand-delivered them to the local GP surgeries, Fire Station, and Police Station. It was a small gesture, but one that meant a lot to everyone involved. It was a great way to say thank you to those who dedicate their time and energy to keeping us safe and well.

We’ve also been lucky enough to welcome our local Rainbow group, who asked if they could hold their weekly meetings here at Woodlands. Our residents were over the moon! It brought back so many happy memories of their own days as Brownies and Guides, and there were plenty of stories shared over cups of tea. We’re looking forward to helping the Rainbows earn their badges, with our residents offering a bit of support along the way.

Another highlight has been our Pie and a Pint afternoons, where residents from Garioch and Laurels Lodge care homes have joined us. It’s been a fantastic way for the gentlemen to come together, share experiences, and build new friendships in a relaxed and welcoming setting.

Looking ahead, we’re really excited to launch our Community Café, which will run every Friday from 2–4pm. This is a chance for informal carers to take a well-earned break, enjoy a cup of coffee and cake, and chat with others who understand their journey while their loved ones join in with activities around the home.

At Woodlands, we know that staying socially active is just as important as staying physically well. Being part of something bigger, whether that’s reminiscing with friends, lending a hand to the younger generation, or simply enjoying good company, makes life more meaningful. Our door is always open to new connections, and we can’t wait to continue sharing these special moments with our wonderful community.

If you’d like to learn more about life at Woodlands, or join us for one of our upcoming events, we’d love to hear from you. Give us a call or pop in for a cuppa—we’re always happy to welcome new friends!
