Our First Gentlemen’s Lunch Club
We hosted our first gentlemen’s lunch for our gents to get to know one another over fish and chips and a bottle of beer/ glass of wine.
Woodlands Care Home has been open for a little over 7 months and in this time we have had several gentlemen residents join us, sometimes activities can be more tailored to ladies so we thought this would be a good opportunity for the gents to have some time getting to know each other and create friendships.
There is a wide spectrum of different walks of life, from professors and solicitors to joiners and fish merchants and ranging in age from their 70s to 99 years old, all said it was a massive success and we are planning our next one!
This creates the perfect chance for the gents to get to know each other and has given them a sense of normality of going for lunch or dinner with the guys and getting to talk about sports etc. It also has created friendships between them which is wonderful to see.
The lunch club recognises and honours the life experiences of our male residents. It provides a space for them to be heard and valued, fostering a sense of respect and importance within our care home community.
Within any setting and at any age we all like to feel a sense of togetherness and it has been incredible to see these friendships become stronger and stronger and also helped create a homely feeling within Woodlands.
